#Activity and Achievement type:

Activity: that need not to be completed, can be half or partially done, or can be left undone

Achievement: that need to be completed, cannot be left undone, or completed tasks

Activities = until – for point of time
Activities = for   – for period of time

Achievement = by – for point of time
Achievement = in – for period of time

 

#Note: period of time often ends with – s/es suffixes.

Examples:

We watched TV until 1 o’clock.

We watched TV for 4 hours.

We painted the wall by 6 o’clock.

We painted the wall in 7 hours.
